Movement Building School was a training series that aimed to allow participants to develop an understanding of how systems of oppression impacted them and to build the skills to dismantle these systems in their state and local communities. The themes of the program included understanding Maine’s political system, systems of oppression, such as racism, capitalism, and patriarchy, and building relational organizing skills to highlight rural voters. Participants of Movement Building School ranged between 17-22 years old and primarily lived in Maine's 2nd congressional district. Participants were awarded a $700 stipend for attending all 10 political education training sessions and two one-on-one check-ins with a mentor, which equaled approximately 35 hours of the program.
